My testimony
Jesus was all about the people and relationships but not just the status quo. Jesus loved the outcasts of society, the misfits! People like you and me! I think the reason this is so big for me is that during the whole of my growing up years I searched endlessly for acceptance in all things. Eventually I found skating, but the thing was, that no matter how hard I skated or how much I progressed, nothing ever filled the need I still felt for more! Something was always missing: acceptance! Although skating gave me acceptance to a certain degree it was always directly related to the amount I was willing to give!
Then one day I realised something that has changed my life ever since. No longer do I keep feeling the need to belong somewhere! No longer must I search for the feeling of being loved! I understood at last the true meaning of 1 John 4:19, ‘We love because God loved us first.’ When I first heard this and caught onto it, it was like wow! Nothing I can do makes God love me! He has already done everything for me so that I can be in a loving, real relationship with him. All I have to do is love God back because he loves me.
As my new-found relationship with God developed, I realised it had implications the same as any relationship! For example, I don’t cheat on my girlfriend, not because I couldn’t cheat on her but because I love her. In the same way, because we love God, we obey those things he wants for our lives! I won’t lie to you! Some days are tough, others are easy! But if you ask me honestly if I would trade this in for anything? For any amount of money? For anything there is? Without hesitations my answer is NEVER! Christ died so I can enjoy the true meaning of life in all its wonder! He has placed a passion in my heart for all those out there who need him!
